BRILLIANT STUDENT PANEL ON THE CHALLENGES OF MODERN DESIGN AND SUSTAINABILITY

AN INSPIRATIONAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE
A significant panel titled “Challenges of Modern Design and Sustainability” was held at the Faculty of Contemporary Arts on Friday, January 26, at the FCA Gallery. The event captured the attention of master’s students, who, together with their mentor, Prof. Dr. Dragan Ćalović, explored contemporary design topics through the lens of sustainability. This lecture was organized as an integral part of the Contemporary Design Theory course, aiming to expand theoretical knowledge through practical discussion and idea exchange.
DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES ON SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
The panel covered various topics ranging from energy-efficient and socially responsible design to participatory design, new trends in material usage, sustainability in fashion, and the connection between art and design and current social movements. Speakers Marta Glavičić, Lenka Petrović, Aleksandra Svetlik, Nevena Trkulja, Sara Nikolić, and Marija Raičković, by sharing their knowledge and experiences, opened space for deep analysis and critical reflection on the position of design in today’s society.
LAUNCHING AN INITIATIVE FOR STUDENT NETWORKING
After a rich discussion, a call to action was directed towards creating a network of students from different study levels and study groups. The goal was to collectively address issues where contemporary design and art intersect and to stimulate positive changes in these areas. Professor Ćalović and the panel’s students highlighted the importance of such initiatives for future development and improvement of the profession.
CALL FOR COLLECTIVE ACTION
The panel provided an opportunity for both students of the Faculty of Contemporary Arts and the broader community to familiarize themselves with the challenges and solutions in the field of contemporary design and sustainability. Participants were invited to contribute their ideas and enthusiasm to collectively create a better and more sustainable future.
CREATING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE THROUGH DESIGN
This panel serves as an example of how the academic community can drive change and innovation in the field of design. Through dialogue, idea exchange, and practical initiatives, the Faculty of Contemporary Arts continues to inspire and shape new generations of designers ready to tackle sustainability challenges.
