WHOM IS PAINTING INTENDED FOR?

The Animation major is intended for students who wish to specialize in the dynamic and creative field of animated film, as well as those aspiring to become professional animators in the field of Visual Arts. Ideal candidates for this module are those who have a passion for drawing, painting, and artistic expression and wish to expand their skills towards animation. Students interested in combining traditional artistic techniques with contemporary digital tools, as well as those seeking to understand the historical and contemporary contexts of animation, will find this module extremely beneficial.

This major is also suitable for those who want to delve deeply into the technical aspects of creating animated films, including working with the latest animation software and technologies. Students curious about the process of transforming static images into moving narratives and who want to gain the ability to creatively solve problems in visual storytelling will find themselves in this program. It is designed to prepare students for various professional challenges in animation, whether creating animated films, working in creative industries, developing video games, or creating digital content, making it ideal for those aspiring to careers in a wide range of animation-related industries.

Entrance exam preparation

At the Faculty of Contemporary Arts you can prepare for the entrance exam free of charge and show your talent in the right way at the entrance exam that awaits. Entrance exam

At the entrance exam, the candidate has 180 minutes to create a charcoal drawing and another 180 minutes for a painting in tempera or acrylic. The topic is still life. The faculty provides the drawing paper and the surface for the painting, whereas the candidates should bring their own drawing and painting materials. Candidates also need to submit a portfolio (“map”) with finished works.

The practical part of the entrance exam is followed by a 15-minute interview with the candidate, which includes an evaluation of the portfolio and the works from the practical exam.

Knowledge and experience are gained by practical and theoretical work: through continual direct dialogue with professors in studios, amphitheaters, galleries and other spaces. Special attention is dedicated to each individual’s progress within a certain period.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN

By choosing to major in Animation, students will acquire knowledge and skills that encompass the entire animation process, from concept to realization. They will learn how to translate their artistic concepts into lively animated sequences using various techniques and media. The program covers the study of animation principles, screenwriting, character and world development, and animation methods such as stop-motion, 2D drawing, and 3D modeling. In addition to practical skills, students will develop analytical abilities, learning how to critically evaluate artistic works and apply theoretical knowledge to create original animated works. The training also includes the use of advanced software tools, giving students the opportunity to experiment and innovate in the digital animation space.

  • Concept Artist: Developing visual ideas and concepts for animations, films, video games, and other creative projects.
  • Storyboard Artist: Creating storyboards illustrating a series of scenes and narrative structure for productions.
  • Animation Director: Leading and coordinating animation teams and processes for the production of animated projects.
  • Animation Technical Director: Overseeing the technical aspects of animation production, including software and hardware.
  • Visual Effects (VFX) Artist: Creating and integrating visual effects into animated and live-action projects.
  • 3D Modeler: Creating 3D models for animations, video games, and other applications.
  • Rigging Artist: Creating skeletons and controls for animated characters, enabling them to move.
  • Composer: Combining different layers of animation and effects into the final picture.
  • Animation Supervisor: Overseeing the quality and consistency of animation work in production.
  • Animation Producer: Planning, organizing, and managing the production of animated projects.
